ON THE GO:
TEAM 1:
- Audio tour redesign – “Scandals of Art”
- Speakers around scattered around the MoMA, accompanied by large colorful circles on the floor that prompts a meeting.
- It is broken-down by HISTORY, ARTIST PROCESS, and SCANDAL (for example – could feature other themes)
- Explorative, loud, juxtaposed by intimate interaction
TEAM 2:
- ALBERTO’S audio tour – a personalized tour
- The tour will know about the person’s interest, help with way finding, could include heart beat sensor tracking reactions to the art, can include personalized voice over selection – “in a voice that is fitted for me”, content personalized to the the person’s age, location, nationality etc.
- Stored in cloud—an ongoing record of the visitor’s experiences over time
- Sends you emails, social media notifications, etc.
TEAM 3:
- Tour a la Carte featuring tours by: ARTIST, CURATORS, COMEDIANS, RANDOM
- Each tour type narrated by these different folks
- The random tour —you could pick a different featured one, that is shared, curated, different each time you go to the museum, so not the same people narrating
TWO OR MORE:
TEAM 1:
- Selfie App, filters based on pantings of interest or featured art
- Enter lobby, purchase ticket, see signage about MoMA app
- Flow: As visitors visit or are encouraged to discover an appealing work, another prompt encourages you to “become the starry night”, take a selfie, with options to share within digital gallery at MoMA or share on other social media platforms
- Screens featuring the digital gallery could be located adjacent to charging areas where visitors are captive audience
- Content of digital gallery could show thematically or by actual gallery in the museum (e.g. cubist, impressionist, all using the same feature)
- More ambitious approach could have screens located with with the filtered image appearing where the actual piece appears relative to others in the gallery
TEAM 2:
- ART TAG!
- ART TAG is an event promoted on the website as a specific event that you attend (perhaps after hours?) at MoMA so all come knowing it is going on
- Using your own device (or a loaner) starts with scanning a QR code. You will be assigned the role of a “Speaker” or “Seeker”.
- Seeker and Speaker play with the Speaker describing a piece (can’t use artist name or title) and the Seekers trying to locate it and then take a selfie for verification. Then: the roles switch. Collaborative gameification of the visit.
- At the end: you have mobile playlist of words and images of each game or, organized differently, the words and images used to describe different pieces in the collection.
- A collage or your experience could be available digitally or printed out as a take home poster.
HI FI/LOW FI
TEAM 1:
- MoMA audio +2.0 – Your Personal Curator: a series of proposed elements
- There will be two modes, meant to clarify the intent of the experience as a tour vs. a guide.
- TOURS vs COMPANIONS: tours being led through the space vs companions as snippets of information about different works.
- Content is all MoMA verified but includes open source content
- Plan for physical space—an audio lounge—dedicated to listening to audio clips, includes charging stations
- Live-streams to see which galleries are more or less crowded and allow for those waiting for higher profile exhibits to have a shared experience in the process
- Expensive, limited edition headphones, stylized around featured/temporary exhibits
- Making an android app, and web accessible site — especially important for international audiences who typically have Android
- Emphasize bringing your own device in the packing check list / things to know for visitors
- Alternative tours——e.i. “art under surveillance”, could provide context to the historical and cultural time frame a piece was created
- Tools for working with the art. e.i. instagram filter, digital sketchbook
- User generated playlists: curate your favorite works into one playlist and share it with friends
- “Mayor” of an artwork like foursquare
SMALL FRY:
TEAM 1:
- Inspired by Pixar, storytelling
- Loaner devices include selection of brightly color headphones and brightly colored phone cases. You can select your combo for borrowing – makes it feel personal.
- You can select a specific character and have a character led audio tour (could be minions for Despicable Me, Spongebob etc).
- Location based app, where it tracks what pieces they are in front of to reduce barriers for participation.
- The app will prompt child to engage with the piece e.i. “How many stars do you count in the Starry Night”?
TEAM 2:
- Audio Tour for Children
- Audio Tour for kids by kids
- While the child is in front of the exhibit and see’s a blue something and describes what he sees. The speech algorithm recognizes and recommends other pieces based on his comments.
TEAM 3:
- The Audio Art Game
- For one or more kids, colorful headphones. Important that 2 or more kids have the same audio journey.
- Tracks where they want to walk, so color routes on the ceilings with colorful lights. They find their way by following the line lights and there is a special light beaming and it you are offered a riddle.
- You are offered choices. Just visual and audio on the device. You collect a badges when you solve the riddles. You print the badges and stored online.
