“…gain knowledge when you connect the dots…otherwise it’s just data.” -Nelson (member of this 2 or moreĀ group)
This little nugget of thought, encompasses all of what I want a visitor to experience and gain when they interact with something, whether it be an artifact, an installation, or a hands-on activity. I want visitors to be engaged and have to fun, but I would love love love it if they walked away from the experience gaining some kind of knowledge or concept from their interaction.
Throughout the brainstorming session connections and mapping kept coming up because we want visitors to make connections between the various artifacts in order to have a meaningful and knowledge-full experience. That could happen from understanding the stories that the pieces have behind them or from their own stories and paths they create from each piece or from seeing the connections that other visitors have made.
