Fall 2025 classes begin on 09/02/25. Please be sure to review the information below to prepare for your first class, especially if you are new to teaching with us.
1.) Get Your NYU ID Card
- Make sure you have a valid / active NYU ID Card. If your NYU ID Card is expired / if you have never been issued an NYU ID Card before, you will need to plan to make time to visit the NYU ID Card Center prior to the first day of class to get your ID Card.
- The Card Center in Brooklyn is located at 2 MetroTech Center, Brooklyn, NY 11201, Ground Floor. Hours of operation for the Brooklyn location are: MTWF 9:00am – 5:00pm / R 10:00am – 6:00pm.
2.) Access Your Class Roster in Albert
- Access your Class Roster in Albert for your enrollment list, class schedule, and classroom location. Only students on the official Class Roster in Albert may attend class – there is no auditing of ITP / IMA NY classes.
3.) Understand the Add/Drop Period
- Students are permitted to make schedule changes through the listed add drop dates (by session code) – see here. Please expect and anticipate changes to your class roster during these periods. We expect all course instructors to accommodate valid add/drop transactions made during these periods, and to make necessary accommodations for late-enrolled students to participate in the class.
- The day after a given add/drop period ends for a particular session code, all class waiting lists will be purged from Albert for courses scheduled in that session code, freezing enrollment, and leaving students with their enrolled courses only.
4.) Review Our Waitlist Attendance Policy
- Waitlisted students who, at the time of the class meeting, are on the waiting list and do not attend may be removed for non-attendance, provided they did not provide advance notice to the instructor and/or Dante of a time-conflict with an enrolled course on their schedule. This is the only valid rationale for not de-enrolling a WL student for non-attendance (students should attend their enrolled course).
- We do not de-enroll enrolled students for not attending an enrolled class meeting during add/drop. Rather, this is treated as an unexcused absence. Repeated unexcused absences will become a grading matter, and these cases may be reported to Dante and George as they arise.
5.) Know Where You Are Scheduled to Teach
- Report to your classroom location as it is listed on your Class Roster in Albert. If you are unsure of where your class is located, you may contact Dante for assistance.
- You may also view an overview of the Fall schedule here.
Other Considerations
Grading Bases for Our Programs
- For (ITPG-GT) ITP graduate courses, students receive pass / fail grades.
- For (IMNY-UT) IMA NY undergraduate courses, students receive letter gradesĀ (except for Code! / Code! 2).
- For (IMALR-GT) IMA Low Res. graduate courses, students receive pass / fail grades.
Web Presence
Contact our group email helpdesk@itp.nyu.edu for help setting up an internal blog, Google site, or re-direct to a URL of your choosing (some instructors host their materials on Github or other platforms), or use NYU’s LMS Brightspace – all instructors have Brightspace access. The department does not enforce using one platform over another for hosting your course materials – this is entirely up to you!
