Life After IMA

A Thriving New Media Industry

Students who graduate with the IMA BFA from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts will enter a NYC cultural and business environment that is hungry for their talents and skills. It has been said that the nature and quality of tech in New York is due in part to ITP and the fact that it is located in an arts school.

IMA’s graduates can be found in every major technology company, creative design firms, digital agencies, and museums in the country. They’ve also become successful entrepreneurs and artists.

In the words of CRAIN’S list of 50 fastest-growing companies in the New York area for 2016,  “The 50 fastest growing companies in the New York area reflect an economy that has produced record job growth and seen billions of dollars in venture capital, particularly in digital advertising technology—an industry that once again dominates the list.”

Companies that recruit at ITP / IMA include Google, Apple, Microsoft, ESI Design, R/GA, Facebook, Twitter, to name but a few.

Internships and Career Guidance

All IMA students have access to internships and career guidance.

At the university level, NYU’s Wasserman Center for Career Development as well as the Tisch Office of Career Development help you to utilize our wide-reaching NYU network through internships, job offerings, student worker positions, workshops, job fairs, and more.

Wasserman’s Alumni Career Services provides access to networking and active job and internship listings available to all NYU students and alumni, ensuring that once you’ve graduated from the program, you can continue to benefit from the NYU connection.

Tisch Office of Career Development also offers Alumni Career Development Services and works exclusively with Tisch students, connecting you to a network of creative arts professionals and institutions that have partnered with Tisch. With TOCD’s job fairs and job posting site, Tisch students can get a leg-up on the creative jobs and opportunities as a benefit of being a part of the Tisch community. TOCD’s counselors are specifically trained to help students and alumni in the arts to find their way in the creative industry.

In addition, ITP/IMA has a dedicated industry liaison that works to build relationships with the many large and small companies in New York and beyond. With an active faculty in the field, a strong connection to the NYC professional scene, and a great alumni network, it is no wonder that our graduates are working at some of the most exciting companies in the world.
