RESIDENT RESEARCHER

Caroline Nivetha is a Thamizh creative technologist, artist, and applied researcher based in New York City. Centering around human connection and community, her work oscillates between serious and playful (she blames it on being a Gemini). She explores how technology can be designed to create spaces for conversations and productive arguments in a way that can weave meaningful connections.

She is particularly interested in how messy conversations around social issues can open pathways to collective understanding, change, and unexpected connections. Caroline works across digital mediums to design spaces for dialogue through speculative futures, playful text-based art, or experiments with humor (or what she thinks is humor) that invite people to pause, reflect, and engage.

Her research examines the emotional undercurrents of online discourse, especially hate, and how it acts as a barrier to connection and meaningful discussions. Lately, she has been drawn to how shared languages across borders create possibilities for dialogue and intercultural connection.
