Cassidy Chen

RESIDENT RESEARCHER

Cassidy (Yitong) Chen is a multimedia artist with an interdisciplinary background bridging art, technology, and curatorial practice. She holds a Master’s degree from NYU Interactive Telecommunications Program and a BFA from the Expanded Media Department at Alfred University, with a minor in Contemporary Art History.

Working across video, sculpture, and installation, Cassidy explores everyday objects in ways that challenge their conventional narratives. She replicates familiar objects using widely recognized shapes, symbols, and dynamics, but disrupts their expected functions and attributes to create a sense of detachment within everyday contexts. Her work plays with ambiguity and openness, questioning how representation communicates, associates, and generates meaning. Believing that creativity and resistance are embedded in daily actions, she seeks to navigate and challenge established systems through poetic intervention.
