Christina Dacanay

PROJECT FELLOW

Christina is a designer, artist, and educator from Virginia and based in Brooklyn. Her design work extends across games, edutech, creative tools, and open-source projects. With a background in illustration and comics, her artist practice is often interested in emergent narrative that can arise through static images or through collaborative play. Deeply interested in how communities make meaning, her ITP thesis “Pilled” was a deep investigation into QAnon leading up to the 2021 election that documented the types of memes and fantasy play that turned into conspiracy.

As a research resident she is continuing ml5.js project and community stewardship, but is more than happy to discuss projects with students. Christina holds a BA from the Maryland Institute College of Art and a MPS from ITP NYU, and she’s currently designing for Talofa Games.
