RESIDENT RESEARCHER

Liyan is a multimedia artist, researcher, and educator based between New York City and Abu Dhabi. Her artistic practice explores real-world reflections, examining how socio-political changes shape her politically and socially engaged work.
Her projects have been exhibited in various spaces across New York (2021, 2023, 2024, 2025) and at the Mozilla Foundation Festival in the Decolonizing AI space (2022).
Beyond her artistic practice, Liyan’s political activism is central to her work. In the summer of 2024, she joined the Berkman Klein Center at Harvard Law School to help develop educational programs focused on tech ethics and AI. She holds a Master’s in Interactive Telecommunications from NYU Tisch School of the Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Interactive Media and Computer Science from NYU Abu Dhabi.
