The New Museum’s cultural incubator NEW INC announced the full schedule for DEMO2025, its annual art, design, and technology festival featuring industry leaders and NEW INC members running from June 4–22 with an opening program taking place June 4–6 at WSA 180 Maiden Lane in Manhattan’s Financial District. Through demonstrations, exhibitions, performances, workshops, and talks, this free public festival will spotlight innovative projects created by 44 current NEW INC members whose interdisciplinary work spans art, design, technology, science, architecture, and entrepreneurship.

Alongside the Mainstage Talks by keynote speakers and current NEW INC members, Studio DEMO, the festival’s broadcast hub for short interviews, podcast recordings, and performances, will feature industry leaders and NEW INC alumni. Studio DEMO participants include Kimberly Drew, Brian Droitcour, Tania El Khoury, Ian Erickson of DISC, Marcelo Gutierrez, Anna Harsanyi, Laura Lupton, Whitney McGuire, Christina Moushoul of Office Party, Caro Murphy, Hillary Taymour, Emily Witt, ITP Alum Amelia Winger-Bearskin, Diya Vij and students from the 2024–25 class of NewMu Teens, the New Museum’s afterschool program connecting teens with contemporary art.

Amelia

Amelia Winger-Bearskin is an artist of Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) origin who innovates with artificial intelligence in ways that make a positive impact on our communities and the environment. She is a Banks Family Preeminence Endowed Chair and Associate Professor of Artificial Intelligence and the Arts, at the Digital Worlds Institute at the University of Florida. She is also the inventor of Honor Native Sky, and founded the award winning podcast Wampum.Codes an ethical framework for software development based on indigenous values of co-creation. She was awarded a MacArthur/Sundance Institute fellowship for her collaborative 360 video immersive installation and has been awarded other prestigious prizes for her VR/AR projects.
