Adjunct Faculty, IMA/IMA Low Res, mixed media artist
Brian Ho is a mixed media artist who specializes in experimental front-end web development. Their work focuses on exploring the affordances of the web, including topics such as 3D on the web and web VR.
Over the years, they have honed their skills in a wide range of mediums, from traditional drawing, painting and photography to more unconventional approaches like glitch art, code-based generative art, and interactive installations. With a fascination with the possibilities afforded the web however, Brian saw it as a canvas for creating truly immersive and interactive experiences and eventually honed in on a more web-focused practice.
Artistically, Brian is motivated by a fascination with the way that technology can be used to explore deep and complex human emotions, such as those surrounding loss and grief, as well as a belief in the power of the web to transcend physical boundaries and connect people across vast distances.
In addition to their work as a creative artist, the subject is also an educator who is passionate about sharing their knowledge and skills with others. They have taught workshops and classes on coding and front-end development, and have used these opportunities to help others understand the potential of technology to explore the mysteries of the human experience.
