Devan Wardrop-Saxton (she/they) is an intermedia artist and creative technologist originally from the Pacific Northwest and now making stories with text, play, song, and space in Brooklyn, NY.

Rooting outward from her foundations in theatre-making, music, tabletop role-playing game design, and poetry, her work explores how we find ourselves in the spaces in between: the shifting resonances and dissonances between language and meaning, intention and aftermath, one voice and another. Working with sound, shared space, organic materialities, and poetic language, they make intimate, code-driven works that experiment with how the languages and techniques of analog experiential art forms can strengthen the expressive possibilities of digital technologies, especially in the context of real-time, real-space experiences where audience-participants’ presence and imagination are integral to meaning-making. Across live and static mediums, her work is an invitation to settle into complexity together, and through that shared experience connect more deeply with ourselves, each other, and our wider world(s).

Recent opportunities to engage with their work include NYC Resistor, the New York Transit Museum, the Horological Society of New York, W4 Newsstand, Littlefield, and The Living Gallery. She is grateful to have received artist residencies with D’Clinic Studios (Zalaegerszeg, Hungary), Shaking the Tree Theatre (Portland, OR), and Sou’wester Arts (Seaview, WA), and is a graduate of the Independent Publishing Resource Center Poetry Portfolio Program and the Arts for Learning Northwest Teaching Artist Studio. BA in German Studies & in Theatre from Lewis & Clark College; MPS in Interactive Telecommunications from NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
