Sound and music play an integral part in an interactive experience. What about the reverse: how can interaction can play a crucial role in a musical experience? Responsive, adaptive, and interactive audio have the ability to develop a mood, create a sense of space and material, cue and foreshadow events, and allow people to participate in significant ways in soundmaking processes. This class will focus on the relationship between interaction and sound, creating sonicallydriven experiences, interfaces and environments in which
music is realized as a collaboration between the composer and listener. This class takes a broad view of music as “organized sound”.
