RESIDENT RESEARCHER

Kay is a multidisciplinary artist, designer, and creative technologist based in Brooklyn, NY. Their practice focuses on wearable technology, costume design, performance, and PCB design as an art medium.

They previously worked as a graphic designer and art director in publishing, and have been working as a freelance costume designer, performer and event producer since 2018. Their costume work has been seen onstage at Bonnaroo, House of Yes, Bushwig, and on RuPaul’s Drag Race. Kay is passionate about making education around technology accessible, and is the co-creator of Dragtronics workshop series, along with Priyanka Makin. They were a 2021 City Artist Corps grant recipient, a 2024 Bodies in Play Resident, and a 2024 NYU Green Grant recipient.
