As for my reflections for my spring thesis presentation, it was a blast! It was a pleasure getting fresh eyes and ears to see the current iteration of Beyond the Spectrum and am excited in the direction everything is going! The feedback was wonderful! As for the summer session, my plan is to keep pushing, keep making adjustments, testing, hopefully presenting at more public events which I think will be the most helpful!

This thesis will be presented on May 26th and I cannot wait to share everything with you all!

I also just want to say that it has been a pleasure so far learning and growing artistically with each and every one of you so far! This class and program so far has been a life changing experience for myself and am grateful to have crossed paths with each and every one of you! 🙂 I get so inspired seeing all of the wonderful work everyone has made, and even though we’re all creating different things, we’re all flourishing! 🙂 We’re at the home stretch and we should all be tremendously proud!! 🙂

Hi All!

Quick update!

Just finished scoring and putting together the soundtrack for the end of my thesis which I’m super happy about. Since I plan on finishing things off with the timelapse portrait of my grandparents, and the interview, it only felt right to score something that I felt represented them and their story!

Now I’m in the process of assembling everything, all the portraits, audio and music into an experience that will hopefully be impactful and fun!

If you’re reading this I hope you’re doing well! Just finished up my Practice Presentation with Sarah, Ada, Elizabeth and Jason! I had a really wonderful time hearing my peers present their current progress as well as hearing about their process leading up to where they are now! Even though we’re all working on different things, I learned a lot about what I need to work on along with what to condense for my final presentation on May 9th! So for myself, I just need to condense, condense, condense! The information is there, but I need to condense! Overall I felt that this process was really helpful! It was wonderful getting feedback from my peers and now feel a bit less nervous about presenting on May 9th hahah! 🙂

I just finished up my second meeting with my mentor Dylan which is always a blast! I started things off with updating him on my process with my thesis! Since I will be doing the footsteps in chalk, we spoke mostly about how to make the footsteps last the whole day since this will be an all day event on what will most likely be a very hot day haha! My main question was how to ensure that the chalk footsteps will remain intact all day, even when the students pass by for their classes? Dylan had suggested SPRAY CHALK which I thought could be another great option! It will probably speed up the footstep making process haha! Then after that we began discussing anime lol!

Thesis Update!

So today I had a call with my old high school professor and a few teachers and I got the GREEN LIGHT! We found a room that would be perfect, I finalized with faculty and staff that the footsteps will be done with chalk, and I created some fun QR CODES one for feedback at the end of the exhibition and the other as a PHOTO RELEASE CONSENT FORM! I was also able to set a secure date for the premiere which will be MAY 26TH, 2023! So overall everything is moving really fast and I’m beyond grateful and excited to have such a wonderful team!

Just thought I’d give a little update.

Currently working on piecing everything together! I finished my screen capture surprise for the end of my thesis yesterday and am scheduled to speak with my art teacher from high school tomorrow regarding rooms and location! Overall trying not to get overwhelmed but having a blast putting everything together! 🙂

Will be testing out my progress on my projector today! 🙂

Hi all!

Just finished up my 6th peer group meeting with Beth! The meeting was just me and Beth and overall everything went well! I updated Beth on where I was in the process and we had a long conversation about what the interview process was like with my grandparents.

We then began discussing what my next steps were for my thesis process, and then we went over my reflections from the feedback speed session from class which I thought was really helpful! Overall we had a really great time! 🙂

Hi all!

If you’re reading this I hope all is well! Yesterday was amazing because I had the opportunity to interview my grandparents for the finale of my thesis! It was emotional, eye opening, informative and inspirational! The interview lasted for almost an hour. While I did have a set of questions prepared, the interview became more fluid and spontaneous with time which I love! It really felt as though I had finished recording a piece of history through our phone conversation! They were both more than willing to share their life story and rich history of experiences, and while in the interview process it made me realize just how precious this time with them was! My grandparents and I are already very close, and while listening to them talk about their experiences, this just brought us even closer together! The conversation was raw, unedited, intimate, humorous and informative. If anything I’m extremely excited to share this with the class when everything is completed! 🙂

Hey all! 🙂

I had my 5th Peer Group Meeting with Beth today! Beth, Jheanell Jaye, and I all went over what the mentor process has been like for us so far! It was also really nice hearing about the progress my peers are making as well!

I stated a quick summary of my first meeting with my mentor, then went into what my next steps for progress would be, and then we all discussed what to expect for the final presentation!

All went well! We spent time going over our thesis progress, while also talking about our reflections from our Show-A-Thing sessions!

Beth gave some great ideas when it came to the footsteps as well as some great alternative solutions!
