Digital Fabric

Craig Pickard

An exploration of digital materiality in physical space

Description

As the virtual and physical worlds tend ever closer together, we're exploring new ways to combine the experiences that both have to offer. 'Digital fabric' explores the idea of physical and digital objects in combined physical-digtal spaces.

The project is still in the development phase, so the final concept is not yet fully realised. The user will interact with a digital environment through a unique tactile interface to manipulate fabrics and terrains in the digital world.

I developed the idea during my Interactive Applications in physical spaces class here at ITP. I began to think about how the line between physical and digital spaces are becoming blurred, and I wanted to create a project that explores that idea. It is currently a work-in-progress as it will form part of my final project for the Interactive Applications class.
