Urban skin occupies and extends objects in the street.

Description

As today's protest movements occupy the streets, they rely heavily on social media to organise, spread their message and share their experience. This project takes the traces left by a protest on platforms like Twitter, and gives them a more “stable” format in the real world as a material to “occupy” objects on the street.

Text excerpts from tweets comprise a digitally fabricated texture, matching the shape of objects like fire hydrants, emergency phones, bike racks, and park benches, covering them like a skin. The intervention seeks to hijack these objects for a new purpose: to remember a protest and its demands, and what happened since then.
