Mood Mapper

The Mood Mapper is a visual “mood map” depicting correlations between your moods and sound. It lets you log your personal moods while simultaneously recording all the ambient sounds in your environment.

If I’m in a bad mood, I can’t bear the sound of the 6 train pulling into Astor Place station. I wondered how our physical senses affect our moods. Could I correlate mood to sounds, and visualize that data? Mood Mapper is a tool that layers self-recorded mood data over sounds in the environment, then generates a visual display of the frequencies and amplitudes of the sounds during those moments of mood change. This visualization provides an aesthetic representation of your emotional day, enables you to monitor factors that affect your mood and become more conscious of your surroundings.
