It is important to understand the technologies we use every day because understanding empowers us to make informed choices about how we may choose to engage with those technologies and the world around us.
Since the digitization of data as well as most of the services we use today, the privacy and security of our data has become tremendously important. However, there is very little common knowledge on the subject of encryption which is what keeps out digital data secure. My project is a hands-on workshop that demystifies encryption. The workshop is structured as a combination of short discussions and hands-on activities intended to convey the concepts through collective problem solving
Following are the learning objectives of the workshop:
1) Develop a conceptual understanding of encryption
2) Understand how modern encryption keeps our data secure
3) Encourage participants to create a
daily digital practice that is empowered, informed and secure
