Mirror Snaps

Arielle Hein

Mirror Snaps is a mirror "photobooth" that generates animated gifs and immediately posts them to a website for people to download and share.

Description

This project is being developed as my final for Live Web, and would be a playful interactive addition to the winter show! My interest in designing the interaction around a mirror rather than a screen or camera is to hopefully capture a more expressive or unaffected image, and offer a seamless and enjoyable picture-taking experience. We all love to look at ourselves in the mirror – why not keep a record of this?

I am particularly interested in how the images will begin to tell a story over time, and how the piece will be utilized in a public space.

For the show, I would really love a space in the front near the elevator or in the hallway!

Peregrine

David Tracy

A remote-phone controlled, wearable camera that broadcasts its content over the web.

http://www.blog.davidptracy.com/?p=540

Description

Peregrine uses a remote phone's gyrometer to control a camera mounted on a user's shoulder. As the remote phone is rotated, its gyrometer values are sent to a server which relays the values to a wireless arduino to control the rotation of a servo motor. A smart phone is mounted on top of the servo and is rotated according to the remote phone's gyrometer value and streams video content back to the client. Think of it as a motorized, wearable, remote controlled surveillance camera.

PANORAMA

John Farrell

An interactive web chat application which lets users tell stories about places, in those places.

http://www.jefarrell.com

Description

The project is designed as both a supplement to and new take on typical internet (mostly text-based) chat. When telling stories to friends, many revolve around places that one of the two parties hasn't been. My project drops both users into google streetview at the user-specified location. There, users can take advantage of head tracking to virtually look around the street view panorama, providing an entirely new context to the story. Streaming audio and drawing tools augment the chat experience.

fun way of packing together with your friends

http://packingtogether.herokuapp.com/

Description

An web interface that helps you pack with your friends– who brings what, sharing the things on your trip – such as one camera for all, one toothpaste for all, speakers for loud music. Main purpose of the project is to save time organizing, not to forget important stuff and not bringing unnecessary/duplicated things when traveling in group.

Redesigning intake forms

Evan Wu, Sharon De La Cruz

Using a game like structure, I am proposing to redesign intake forms for unaccompanied minors crossing the U.S./Mexico border in order to better reflect their narratives.

http://http://itp.unoseistres.com/?p=1012

Description

Using a game like structure, I am proposing redesigning intake forms for unaccompanied minors crossing the U.S./Mexico border in order to better reflect their narratives. This is important because as the number of minors crossing the border rises, their narratives get muffled by media and anti-immigration narratives. With this platform I am attempting to give back power to the child by allowing them to curate their narrative by masking a traditional intake form as a game that explores their life.
