Spring Classes 2011 (TUESDAY!)

November 15, 2011 – Moderated by Natalie Be’er

(TUESDAY! TUESDAY! TUESDAY! )

Don’t miss this special DriveBy seminar on Tuesday. A must for first year students!

In addition to explaining the elusive but almighty algorithm that will decide your fate, second years will pass on their experience and wisdom regarding Spring course selections.

We will quickly run through the list of Spring classes (posted on Monday, November 14th, 2011). Second year students in attendance will offer their unadulterated critiques of return course offerings as well as their personal experiences with professors offering new courses.

This is a great way to inform your course selections. ITP is too short so making informed choices about your courses this Spring is essential!

We look forward to seeing you there.

This special DriveBy session will take place in the lounge area due to expected attendance size.

Civilization IV

November 10, 2011 – by Matthew Rader and Nick Santaniello

We plan to cover an introduction to one of the greatest PC games of all time: Sid Meier’s Civilization IV.

A triumph of artistry and a labor of love, the depth of Civilization IV is not for the faint-of-heart… but even the uninitiated can appreciate the game’s crisp visuals, beautiful soundtrack and unabashed love for history.

We’d cover the details of production, the game’s place in the convoluted Civilization timeline, critical reception, modding/expansions, and of course, gameplay strategy!

Nick (and Matthew)

Grasshopper

October 27, 2011 – Michell J Cardona

Overview of what is possible with Grasshopper as a generative tool to design.
I don’t know a lot about this either but definitely want to try it out.

Overview of talking to firely via an arduino. For instance you can have a design on the screen and hook up a few sensors that inform the shape of the design. Inputs then change the form. I don’t know how to do this but what to try to learn the basics for this session.

Students Need only to have Rhino Trial, Grasshopper, and Firefly installed. Currently Grasshopper and Firefly are only for PC.

Corona SDK

October 20, 2011 – By Nick Santaniello

I plan to cover the basics of Corona SDK, a framework that is used to easily create cross-platform mobile games (and apps) – I’ll go over the pros and cons of the platform, how to set it up, the help resources available, and the basic concepts.

Roleplaying Games

October 13, 2011
Roleplaying games are often mocked or at least scoffed at as mere escapist fantasy. Come learn about what Roleplaying games actually are, what you can learn from playing them, and why rolling dice is so important!

ITP 101 2011

Sept 8, 2011

The Tri-Force welcomes you to this year’s inaugural Drive By “ITP 101” with Spike McCue.
For all the new arrivals… (first years) who are trying to figure what they just signed on for and the rest of us (second years) still trying to figure out what we signed on for.

The “ITP 101” Drive By is where we cover all the FAQs related to ITP as well as answer any ITP related FUQs (frequently unanswered questions… more general fuqks will not be answered)

This is your chance, whether you are a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or persistent degree seeker of a higher order, to come and find answers… as well as provide answers. We will cover basic ops like the ITP shop, student programs and clubs, as well as give our hard earned advice on what you can and cannot get away with at ITP 😉
