Infinity two-way mirror lights up only when you smile at it.

www.pablomahave.com/portfolio/trialmirror

Main Project Image

Description

I mounted a two-way mirror and a regular mirror into a picture frame and placed an LED strip in between in order to create an infinity mirror. I then modified the code of a Google Vision Kit to have the Raspberry Pi output the signal to the LED strip and control the color details and frequency.

Infinity mirror lights up only when you smile at it. If several people smile at it, it averages joy score and lights up accordingly. Project Collaborator: Maxwell Dayvson Da Silva

A musical instrument to explore the tensions between clear definition and ambiguity, and express the emotion of struggling within them.

https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1VcZYd_AKhIf5HJ1ahR9icJHxHbiEBcyKo69KaqWTKSY/edit?usp=sharing

Main Project Image

Description

“沒有規矩,不成方圓” is an ancient folk-say in Chinese, meaning that you cannot create a square and circle without using the ruler and compass. People usually use this quote to indicate that you cannot accomplish certain things without norms or standards.

Square and circle is a very specific definition of a shape. There is no space of ambiguity when they are referred to. To recreate these shapes, we, without practice, need to use tools or processes.
It seems to be our instinct to define, classify, disambiguate and interpret. Other than square and circle, there are many other things that are clearly defined by human, which are believed to be the “correct” or “normal” to pursue and follow — definitions of a happy life, good wife/mother, success, purpose…
I have started wondering more and more: why making a circle or square at all? Isn’t the ambiguity and the in-between state seems more natural in our lives? Isn’t the uncertainty a source of creativity?
Hence, I want to make a musical instrument to express the idea of the dynamic tension between definition and ambiguity in life, and my emotion when struggling with them.

Description

We often think the earth is so big with tons of resource. However, the earth is small and fragile; it's our one and only home. We want to create an interactive experience that enhance the nature of earth which often being overlooked by us.

Sharing makes the world better, but can you tell the real from the fake?

https://https://ruixuanruixuan.wordpress.com/pcom/

Main Project Image

Description

Fake news are more terrible than we thought!
Research shows that fake news spreading 10% faster than real news. Fake news also could kill people, at least 20 people were killed in India in 2018 due to the fast spreading fake news in WhatsApp.

So, What makes fake news believable?
pictures, images and videos, because people think those resources are reliable evidences of the event.

Concept: 'Believable News' a virtual newspaper which could improve people’s vigilance to fake news. The content of the newspaper are three different news which happened in different places of the world. However, those three news are demonstrated with the same picture. And the picture is totally make sense with every news.

Interaction: 1. Three news paper are hanging on the wall and maximum three people could participate into the experience at the same time. > 2. The newspaper is blurred, user could only see the image but can't see the content clearly, three different glasses are provided > 3. user wear different glasses and different news will be showed > 4. user choose one news which they believe is real to share to other the readers 5. user will know the news they just shared is fake or real.

A cup of orange juice you cannot drink but you can see, hear, and smell it.

https://sherryliulxy.wixsite.com/itp2019/project-description

Main Project Image

Description

Smell is a very important sense of human begins. It can always remind people of some memories and feelings. The Orange Juice Squeezer uses a common juice as a representation to create an immersive environment for people, instead of its original way(drink the juice) of interaction with people, through the joint feelings of other senses, to make people feeling like they drinking the juice.

People will experience a real making juice process and the smell will come out from the humidifier. And there will be a video project on the back of the squeezer.

The Fire Bird is a character activated by a wearable device that reacts to gestures and movement generating sound, light and video effects.

https://fernandogregor.io/2019/12/11/the-fire-bird/

Main Project Image

Description

The Fire Bird is a first experiment on building characters exploring interactive wearable technologies. This is a work in progress.

To compose the character, I've created gloves that generate different light, sound and animation effects according to the gestures of the performer that embodies the Fire Bird to tell their story.

Movement 1

The Fire Bird flies away from home because their house was put on fire by someone who couldn't understand the way the Fire Bird was living.

Movement 2

The Fire Bird flies to the city, alone, and finds a place to sleep.

Movement 3

The Fire Bird dreams for so long, that the invisible seed that was inside of their belly grows and turns into a tree.

Questions to keep moving:

What's the seed that is inside of the belly of the Fire Bird made of?

How does the tree that grows from the belly of the Fire Bird look like?

It's a gravity defying, hovering light bulb that works through magnetic levitation

https://https://vanessachesnutitp.wordpress.com/2019/12/02/final-project-idea-levitating-magnetic-lightbulb/

Main Project Image

Description

I wanted to create a piece that not only looks beautiful but which is also interactive. Users will lower the bulb over the magnetic base ( a wooden box) until the LED lights up. The user will begin to feel an upward resistance. When the bulb is positioned exactly at the center of the base, they will feel a gentle release. The electro-magnets will automatically center the bulb in position. Once placed over the box, the bulb will begin to rotate & potentially play music (the Arduino helps it rotate).

Using projection mapping and music interaction to make human and tree communicate with each other

https://

Main Project Image

Description

For the music part, the surface of the tree looks very rhythmic, with tracks and irregular block pattern. We want to use the data collected from the surface pattern of the tree to compose the music played when combing the tree. For the projection part, the surface of the tree reminds me of the blood vessels under the skin or the wrinkles on the face.By using noise graphic generated in p5 and communicated with distance sensor, the projection interacted with the comb when someone combing the tree. In this way, the one who comb could feel like they were combing a lively texture and communication with the tree.

An interactive installation that demonstrates the how your personal data get processed cross other platforms.

https://henryiswhy.tumblr.com/post/189462376791/final-project

Main Project Image

Description

Data links using light, sound, and projection mapping to visualize the relationship between our personal data and others platforms who collect, sell, use our information to seek profit.

We created four stories with four different light visualization for user to play with. Although there is a increasing awareness about big data and data privacy, most people don’t really know what parts of the data is used or sold to the company and how companies make profit from them. Therefore, we think it’s meaningful to unravel the mystery of data flow from users to companies and advertising sides. With sound and light, we hope user with get the deeper understanding about our personal data privacy.

When user finish play with the installation, we made a “database” for user to share, talk about their experience with their own personal data privacy issues. It's hard to change the current privacy situation, at least we should share those stories.
