Photoshop and Illustrator

Photoshop:

  1. Optimizing images for webpages.
  2. Path tool: cut out several objects from different photos to be used in a collage.
  3. Gif creation.

Illustrator: Create a logo while learning to use the pen tool and type options.

Prerequisites: 

Students should come to class with Photoshop and Illustrator installed on their machines. Be sure to bring a mouse to the session!

Web Development with Node.js + Express.js + Mongodb

Time/Date: Friday Jan 23, 11am-2pm

Description: 

This session will give a crash course on creating a dynamic Web app using node.js with the popular express.js framework and MongoDB database. We will cover how node development works, how to interact with the database, how to accept and show data on the front end to the user, and more! By the end, you’ll have a good understanding of how everything works together and how to run the app locally and then easily host it on Heroku.

Prerequisites: 

At a minimum, please have:
node.js installed on your computer. http://nodejs.org/ and create an account at heroku.com.

Animation for the Web

Time/Date: Thursday Jan 22, 11am-2pm

Instructor: Owen Roberts

Description: 

We’ll look at using SVG and scripting to do animation on web pages.

Prerequisites: 

Should have familiarity with HTML, CSS and Illustrator and basic ICM/Processing experience. JavaScript experience will be helpful but not necessary. Bring computer with Chrome, Illustrator and text editor.
