Users interact with an Ipad and the router. The ipad servers as the physical access point to the browser. The LIQUID Router visualizes the third-party tracker requests for your data during your browser experience. Join the Liquid Router and see which sites want your data. A raspberry pi acts as the router, triggering a peristaltic pump when requests made by certain third-party trackers (sourced from multiple ad-blocker lists) and transfers a color liquid to a lower vessel. Through time, the vessel will transition color, highlighting the veil-lance economy where your free-time is liquidated.
'I See You' is a surveillance project that brings to light privacy vulnerabilities in wifi networks and what they can expose about people and their location data. It uses consumer level free and/or minimal costing hardware and software to monitor device locations throughout the ITP floor which are then visualized on a digital floor map in real time.
The project has fun visual component by showing people on the ITP floor represented by their device's MAC address. However, by displaying such information it also encourages viewers to think about questions like:
What is a network?
What are you giving up to be a part of one?
Knowing what you are giving up, would you still want to be a part of the network?

The photo booth is actually a prank. I will put speakers into the booth, and will be speaking to people inside the booth through my website/peer.js. I will use text to speech to tell them funny things that will cause them to make funny expressions. In that moment, I will either capture the canvas or print their photo through a wifi printer and they will see the results of their facial reaction to the prank.
A scenario-based game that prompts player to choose one of two choices in everyday life situation where every choice they make implies a trade-off between technology benefits and personal privacy/data security.
Privacy and security are important issues that many (the general public in particular) fail to fully comprehend mostly because the terminology can be too complicated, technical or just sound dry. Our aim with Introduction to Surveillance Series is to educate the mass public about these surveillance systems in order to allow people to protect their privacy better. We do this with simple diagrams and pictures to illustrate topics that can be complicated in nature. We provide analogies to encourage better understanding.
This zine series was done for our final project for Veillance class. While we understand ITP’s reasonings behind not putting similar projects in the same room, we believe in the case of these class projects for Veillance, each project from the class would go well together in the same room as each project compliments each other, building it up into a bigger whole (composed of separate parts). So we would like to request to be put in the same space as the other veillance projects. Thank You!
Diting is a mythical creature who is good at listening. Qiuniu and Pulao are two sons of Chinese dragon who are good at music. The physical part of the project is a panel. The panel is the physical part of my final performance for three classes: designing interface for live performance, code of music, and networked media. The whole project is a live performance that I will control the physical part, the panel, and the audience can join the show by entering my website. The server will collect data and trigger sound effects. Back to the physical part. In the link above, there is a sketch of my project and how the panel will look like. My current plan is to make a Weiqi chessboard and trigger the beats, melody, and harmony effects by putting down chess pieces. The sensors I will take advantage of include buttons, distance sensors, accelerometer, potentiometer, etc. The sound will be made in Abelton through Max. All the sound effect will produce visual effects with P5.js. The server end will use node.js and Jquery to collect and manipulate data. The physical part will be about the laptop size.
