Learning Energy

Jaycee Holmes

A small interactive installation on generating renewable energies: solar and kinetic.

http://www.holmesjaycee.com/2017/03/29/e-final/

Description

Renewable energies are not as inaccessible as some may think. Learning Energy is an interactive museum installation that educates its users on the process of using renewable energy sources to power small-scale physical-computing projects. Users can use a hand crank or shine a lamp over a solar panel to see how the power generated through kinetic and solar structures compare to the electrical power we generate through a plug.

Together with Another

Together with Another is an interactive installation which gives users a sensation of meeting others in parallel worlds

https://dannihuang.squarespace.com/#/together-with-another/

Description

Together with Another is an interactive installation which gives users a sensation of meeting others in parallel worlds.
The installation is made up of 9 see-through silk-screen frames in various sizes. The frames are hung from the ceiling so that the space would be divided to two parts. Users at two sides of the frames could see different parts of their own shadow and also the shadow of the opposite user being mapped and painted on these silk screens, as like users are in parallel worlds. The shadows would be shown and faded in certain rhythm according to the speed of users' movement.
The overlapped area of shadows from two sides would change color. The more they overlapped, the stronger the color change could be. In this way we want to design a sensation that when two strangers meet and doing the similar thing at the same time, they would have a kind of intimacy in parallel world although they do not meet each other in the real world.
(My partner and I are now improving the visual and sound feedback as well as the interaction process after the first user test.)

Safe House

Danielle Butler

Safe House is an immersive, multi-sensory installation for one. Sound, lights, and air current shift as a visitor interacts with the space, changing to reveal different aspects of an environment that can only be experienced from the inside of a small hanging house.

https://www.dfunkadelica.com/

Description

Sanctuary is a multi-sensory installation for one. It is a small hanging house. If entered a visitor discovers a world that juxtaposes the one outside in scale and content. Inside is a forest. Physical trees grow up towards the sky, roots burrow into basement rooms. Multiple sound channels immerse you in the woods on a mild summer day. Yet, if one of the basement doors is opened the environment changes. Sounds, projections, air current and light shift to reveal storms and seasons, layers of emotional states.

Multisensory Music

Michael Simpson

A tool for creating audio/visual experiences that provides the composer with realtime multi-sensory feedback (audio/visual/haptic) tied to their physical interaction.

http://mgs.nyc/syntk/

Description

This project offers the viewer a series of different musical interfaces (software) and allows them to interact with both the audio and the visual elements which are being projected onto a screen. The idea is to provide the audience with a multi-sensory AV experience by tightly weaving sound, graphics, and physical gestures (via mouse/wacom/drum pads/faders).

Digital Consequences

Sebastian Morales

Your facebook likes hurt more than you think.

http://www.adorevolution.com/itp/2017/4/11/final-proposal

Description

As our digital existence evolves, we continue to discover (rediscover) the meaning of our virtual self on our interaction with the medium.

Digital Consequences is a social mechanics piece where your “likes”, “loves” and “shares” are fed into a tangible machine, controlling it, revealing how our virtual live and our physical one are not parallel to each other but more often an intricate weaving.

This piece can be observed both physically at the gallery as well as online, where users can login to the live stream on their Facebook wall where they can then interact with others and the machine.

Spectators control, spectators decide, spectators have the power, even if they are not aware of it.

Pep Talk

A man on the brink of a momentous decision meets an unexpected confidant.

https://video.helloeko.com/v/M0bgKA

Description

Bryan Hsu, Amanda Lee, Anne-Michelle Gallero and Xitong Xu bring you their ‘Storytelling with Non-Linear Video’ final video project, “Pep Talk.”

Quick decision-making. A panicked man, who is having dinner with his girlfriend, has boxed himself in the small restaurant bathroom. On the brink of a momentous decision that will affect him for the rest of his life, he meets an unexpected confidant in this least likely of place. At first he thinks that his eyes are playing tricks on him, but our insightful (and comedic) confidant helps this panicked man navigate his nerves and anxiety towards clarity and action with the quick decision making of YOU. In combining storytelling with a dialogue based game mechanics, every click of the viewer is important to unlock the branching narratives of this panicked man’s story and his final life-altering decision.

Over the six-week non-linear storytelling workshop with Alon Benari, we worked closely together to come up with the concept, write the script, film, edit and build the look of the UX interface design to create an interactive movie experience using the Eko Studio browser-based platform. Drawing on Alon’s extensive filmmaking knowledge and his Eko Studio’s team of developers and coders, our Pep Talk story gives the viewers a role in how the story plays out through 5 major choice-making moments using timer-based UX buttons to quickly decide in real time one of four possible endings.

Wind Chimes

Description

I inspired by wind chimes that create a beautiful sound through moving by wind. The fact that people can notice the existence of wind through the wind chimes is really interesting point to me. Then, I got few questions.
How people can see wind? How can ‘wind’ be visualized?
