he BBC are launching a new, national, daily morning show on public radio in =
spring 2008. This new morning show, The Takeaway, will be based at WNY=
C in New York. Designed as a news program, the show will be conversati=
onal in tone and will be designed across many platforms.

rview:
The Broadband Video Producer will be responsible for producing dai=
ly broadband video content for The Takeaway – the new national morning show =
for public radio produced by PRI and WNYC in association with WGBH, the BBC =
and The New York Times.  The Broadband Video Producer will work closely=
 with the show’s producers, hosts and other staff in a fast-paced, collabora=
tive, deadline-driven news environment.  Some weekend and early-morning=
 hours may occasionally be required.
The position will report to the =
Director of New Media for Radio and TV at WGBH Boston, and will be based at =
WNYC in New York City with day-to-day editorial supervision will be provided=
 by the Web Editor of The Takeaway (or designee of the Executive Producer).
The Broadband Video Producer will generate video/broadband content de=
rived from the show’s broadcasts, interviews, production, and/or web content=
, focusing primarily on daily short video content.  S/he will also work=
 closely with other project staff, including the show producers, to facilita=
te their creation of video content.  The Broadband Video Producer will =
also leverage user-generated video content from the online audience and work=
 to feature video/multimedia content from WGBH and other project partners.
S/he will is expected to be a self-starter, willing to keep up with a =
wide variety of news sources; to be able to think and act quickly and thrive=
 in a collaborative, deadline-driven  work environment, publishing a da=
ily, low-cost, short-form video/broadband companion/extension of The Takeawa=
y. The Broadband Video Producer will work to ensure that Takeaway’s video co=
ntent evolves over time to be suitable for eventual use on other broadband p=
latforms, such as cable and mobile. 
Requirements:
Summari=
ze the education, experience and skills required.
o	Minimum of 2-4 years of demonstra=
ted  expertise in creating original short form video specifically for w=
eb/online distribution.
o	Solid technical knowledge of all aspects of  digital v=
ideo and audio editing, encoding and publishing. 
o	Experience with a daily media pro=
duction, ideally radio or newspaper.
o	Ability to quickly translate ideas into intell=
igent, low-cost, short form video.
o	Successful track-record iin project management =
(from conception to execution).
o	Strong research skills.
o	Demonstrated ability to collaborat=
e with a creative team and to communicate effectively with both web non-tech=
nical personnel.
o	Fluency/expertise with third party and social networking sites and=
 tools
o	=
Familiarity with web media metrics and tools (e.g. Google Analytics,  S=
awmill, etc.)
o	=
Working knowledge of copyright as it pertains to images, video and mu=
sic, including Creative Commons licenses, Fair Use law, and terms of service=
 on third party video sites. 
o	Experience with mobile content, Flash video , and cre=
ation of web-based animations, a plus.
o	Strong radio listener (public and/or commerc=
ial).
