>> StoryCorps’ mission is to instruct and inspire people to record
>> one another’s stories in sound. Facilitators are the public face
>> of StoryCorps, and work to carry out this mission.

>> StoryBooths are permanent or semi-permanent structures StoryCorps
>> builds as public recording spaces integrated into the communities
>> in which they are sited. These booths are designed to create a
>> safe and welcoming space for participants to record interviews.
>> StoryCorps Facilitators orient these participants to the interview
>> process and handle all technical and administrative aspects of
>> these recordings. They also log each interview, prompt
>> participants when necessary, and occasionally take on the role of
>> the interviewer if a participant arrives alone. Facilitators are
>> responsible for data entry, archiving, reporting, and other tasks
>> necessary to the preservation of interviews and upkeep of the
>> recording space and equipment. When not conducting interviews,

>> Essential Duties and Responsibilites:

>> Provide the participants with a CD copy of their interview
>> Perform data entry and archival processing tasks to ensure
>> preservation of interviews and an accurate record the day’s activity
>> Identify tape from interviews to be considered for broadcast
>> Solicit donations from participants; accurately process and record
>> transactions
>> Regularly communicate with supervisors to ensure the effective
>> operations of all tiers of service
>> Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:

>> Excellent interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills
>> Solid organization skills and attention to detail
>> Fluency in a language other than English a plus
>> Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and File Maker Pro;
>> Mac proficiency preferred
>> High school diploma or equivalency required; 2 or 4 year college
>> degree preferred
>> Experience in oral history or documentary work a plus
>> Familiarity with the Bay Area strongly preferred
