Position Responsibilities: Assistant Professor of Fine Arts / New
Genres School of Art, Media, and Technology Parsons The New School for
Design 1. Position Description The School of Art, Media, and
Technology at Parsons The New School for Design seeks an exceptional
artist working in New Genres (time-based media) for a full-time,
renewable term faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor
starting July 1, 2009. Successful applicants must hold terminal
degrees in their respective fields and/or equivalent professional
standing, and must demonstrate a strong record of excellence in
teaching and scholarship/creative work. This position is dependent on
budget approval from the Office of the Provost.
Minimum Qualifications: Requirements SAMT’s Fine Arts program seeks an
accomplished, versatile artist with relevant teaching experience, and
expertise in contemporary approaches, concepts, techniques, and
critical issues as they pertain to the range of practices that are
associated with video, performance, digital media and various
intermedia combinations of art forms. Because teaching will include
undergraduate studio courses, candidates must demonstrate proficiency
in the technical as well as theoretical and historical aspects of
their field(s). Demonstrable skills and techniques will be thoroughly
integrated into the conceptual frameworks of professional practice.

Responsibilities — Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses and
mentor students within the context of an interdisciplinary art
program. — Maintain an active professional practice nationally and
internationally. — Participate in the development of the program and
in faculty governance of the School.
