Job Description:
Grassroots Campaigns, Inc is a progressi=
ve political consulting firm that
specializes in running =
face-to-face citizen mobilization campaigns for
political=
parties, candidates, and advocacy groups. By running campaigns
on behalf of groups such as the National Democratic Party, MoveOn.org=
, the
American Civil Liberties Union, and Amnesty Interna=
tional we can focus on
building up their membership and v=
olunteer bases while running field
campaigns for candidat=
es and other organizations to win progressive
victories o=
n the local, state, and national level and mobilize citizens to
be more actively involved and engaged in politics.
Canvass Directors and Assistant C=
anvass Directors manage our 30 grassroots
fundraising fie=
ld offices across the country, with bottom-line
responsib=
ility for all local operations.
Job Responsibilities:

=95 Recruitment:=A0 Build a te=
am of 15-50 canvassers by recruiting from within
the loca=
l community.=A0 Interview prospective staff and make hiring
decisions.
=95 Staff Management:=A0 Teach canvassing/fundraising =
skills.=A0 Work with your
staff in individual and group s=
ettings, with a particular eye towards
developing leaders=
.=A0 Cultivate a welcoming and motivating atmosphere.
=95=
Canvassing:=
=A0 Canvass in the field three to four days per week, to train
new and experienced staff in the field and meet personal fundraising

requirements.
=95 Administration:=A0 Carefully trac=
k income and expenses.=A0 Manage the budget
for your offi=
ce.=A0 Process staff payroll.=A0 Maintain records for future
organizing efforts.
Qualifications:
Strong communication and motivat=
ional skills, work ethic, and desire for
political change=
are essential.=A0 Candidates must be able to work within a
team, have proven leadership ability and an orientation towards handling=
a
lot of responsibility. Strong self-direction and the a=
bility to take
initiative are also necessary qualificatio=
ns. Previous field or canvassing
experience is a plus, an=
d may qualify candidates for additional leadership
positi=
ons.
Training:

Newly hired directors will typically spend three weeks do=
ing field
training, working intensely alongside experienc=
ed directors and will also
attend a week-long national cl=
assroom training.=A0 Additionally, directors
receive supp=
ort from regional management staff throughout their time on
staff.
After one year in the position, staff will hav=
e learned the basics of
running a successful grassroots c=
ampaign, including, but not limited to,
fundraising and d=
onor recruitment, hiring and supervising staff and/or
vol=
unteers, and turf management.

Expectations:
Positions are for a minimum =
commitment of one year, and we=92re building
towards mid-=
term elections in 2010. Campaign hours can run 60-80 hours per
week, including work on weekends.
