Job Description: Occidental College s=
eeks a proven scholar/artist for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor
of New Media position. Situated within the Art History and Visual Arts Depa=
rtment=92s Film & Media Studies
Program, this position will entail the teaching of both digital =
production and theory,
expanding traditional
notions of dig=
ital media creation so as to provide critical perspectives on the cultural, =
economic, and
practical implications of new media forms.
Because our program trans=
cends the traditional divisions between production and critical studies,
=
candidates should preferabl=
y demonstrate expertise in film and media production (MFA) as well as film
critical studies (PhD).
At Occidental, a liberal =
arts college, critical thinking across departmental boundaries is essential.=
We seek

will work to expand our interdisciplinary curriculum and who sees new media=
as not only
embracing n=
ew technologies, but also as challenging and redefining traditional media id=
eology and

al and local community-based learning experiences
Preference will be given to candidates with active=
exhibition history, publications, and teaching
