User Interface Designer

Aol’s Design Group is looking for a U=
I Designer to join our team.  If you are the UI star we seek, you will =
join a team of exceptional designers that strive to create perfection in eve=
n the smallest user-interaction, and help create some of the top content web=
sites and applications on Earth.

The User Interface Designer is accountable for delivering consumer-centric =
design solutions for AOL. They accomplish this through a complete understand=
ing of how consumer needs translate into interaction design.

They showcase their thinking through timely delivery of :
competitive and internal analysis tied to data=
=20
conceptual models=20
site maps=20
user flows tied to user stories=20
wireframes and related documentation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1.     Contribute to an environment where established m=
etrics, quality improvement, experience design craft, consumer-centricity, a=
nd inclusiveness of ideas thrive.
2.     Track a given experience through all phases in t=
he lifecycle from initial strategy through optimization tied to data points.=

3.     Ensure that the expanded team ultimately builds =
branded customer experiences that are effortless to use, and connected to th=
e things our users value most.
4.     Create the deliverables of a User Interface prof=
essional, which include site maps, user stories and flows, profiles, and int=
erface designs.
5.     Present multiple solutions to a problem.
6.     Lead consumer testing efforts to validate direct=
ions.
7.     Collaborate with other disciplines to define the=
vision and requirements for a given initiative.
8.     Continually research outside consumer trends and=
competitive experiences to keep our vertical products innovative and compet=
itive.
9.     Possess a strong design vision and have sufficie=
nt UI and technical knowledge to constructively challenge current practices =
and approaches.
10.  Create consensus among diverse stakeholders around new ideas and =
initiatives, building confidence in the outcome.

EDUCATION
Bachelors degree (in Design or HCI preferred but not required). Masters=
degree in related field is attractive. And/or 4-6 years of related experien=
ce working on actual consumer experiences.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

In terms of professional profile, the ideal candidate will be highly intell=
igent, team-oriented, affable and well rounded. They will have had experienc=
e working on UI initiatives at a Web company or start-up, an interactive age=
ncy or boutique such as Digitas or Razorfish.. S/he should quickly be viewed=
by her/his peers as reasoned, apolitical, constructive and driven by common=
corporate goals.

This leader must have a genuine passion for the Web and the application pos=
sibilities it offers.

The person may have visual design sense but the position is strictly NOT=
for visual designers or web developers.

They must be regarded as an expert on UI design and usability issues and po=
ssess mastery of the fundamentals of design, design process, technologies, a=
nd workflow, and will have fundamental knowledge of HTML, CSS, and publishin=
g systems.

Accountable for developing and executing design solutions for assigned port=
ions of projects in the areas of information layout and the users experience=
with the content. Develops and executes interface design solutions includin=
g: site layouts, site maps, navigation design, content inventories, informat=
ion organization models, error handling and icons.

computer/human interaction for others in the company.
=95Possesses complete understanding of the overall vision of the project.
=95Regarded as high-level expert possessing in-depth knowledge of AOL tools=
, work procedures, and the online industry.
=95Possesses strong interface design skills, including execution of clean, =
clear interfaces for a variety of consumer audiences.
=95Possesses an expert understanding of interface design principles.
=95Possesses expert knowledge in the interface limitations and capabilities=
of a broad range of platforms
=95Works closely with design and technical leads to establish and maintain =
functional and aesthetic product consistencies.
=95Works closely with, and monitors the work of Sr. Interface Designers and=
Interface Designers to create and design user interfaces that meet AOL need=
s.

Qualified candidates will have:.
=95Bachelor=92s degree (Masters, Fine Arts preferred) or equivalent experie=
nce

=956-8 years of directly related experience in information design
