INTERN: needed at Greensulate

Greensulate is on the leading edge of green roof consulting.  The company serves the residential, commercial, industrial real estate markets and public & private organizations and is a recognized leader in our field. Our team partners and collaborates with architectural firms, conventional roofing and construction companies, developers, engineers, and facilities managers across the U.S. to design, engineer, install & maintain highly customized Green Roof Systems.

The company was the first to successfully file the New York City Green Roof Tax Abatement, an incentive that was established in August 2008 and unused until our action in May 2010.

The company seeking an unpaid Intern for the Fall 2010 semester to aid in the company’s civic and academic advocacy for green roofs. We will show you everything about the development of a green roof project from start to finish.  Our goal is to facilitate the use of green roofs and encourage
everyone in NYC to utilize this abatement.  Green roofs improve the environment by facilitating energy efficiency, storm water management, and
extend the lifetime of a conventional roof.  Universities are using green roofs to create research reports, which will eventually help building
owners, and government officials worldwide to better understand our industry’s impact on the future.

We will provide reimbursement of public transportation; lunch 1 to 2 times weekly.  Students are expected to work approximately 7 to 10 hours weekly
and can sometimes work from home, using the following skills:

Greensulate’s internship is open to anyone in the Environmental Studies program who wants to make a meaningful impact in the city’s environment.

– Clear, concise and articulate writing skills for communication with government on new policy implementation
– Operational analysis skills for project management
– Quantitative and qualitative analysis skills
– The ability to work independently
– Interest in energy efficiency, construction, and retrofitting
– Interest in and familiarity with environmental problems and solutions
– Expertise with Microsoft Office Suite
