Assistant Professor of New Media/Informatics

The Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts Area of New Media and the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Program in Informatics at Indiana University South Bend invite applications for a shared tenure track assistant professor position in New Media/Informatics beginning August 1, 2011.  We seek an artist with significant creative and technical abilities to teach in a newly founded, rapidly growing interdisciplinary BFA program.  A terminal degree in a field combining art and technology, such as new media, intermedia, or informatics, is required.  Topics of particular interest to our program include installation, 3D graphic design, 2D and 3D animation, interactive programming, GUI design, web design, scripting, real-time computing, and an ability to teach these topics in conceptual and historical frameworks of contemporary new media art and communication. The successful candidate will demonstrate the capacity for research and publication or creative activity and exhibition appropriate to the successful pursuit of tenure. Teaching load per semester is normally 2 three credit hour courses in New Media and 1 three credit hour course in Informatics. Salary is competitive; total compensation includes an excellent fringe benefits package.
