JOB: Weight Watchers, IA and Senior IA

SUMMARY

Weight Watchers is looking for a full-time Information Architect (IA) for our headquarters in New York, NY. This person will be joining a dynamic, high-energy Creative department working on both strategic and tactical projects, including Rich Internet Applications, marketing, customer relationship management, and content findability. The IA reports to the Creative Director for Information Architecture.

This is an opportunity to work on complex, multi-faceted web and mobile products across more than a dozen international markets; to see projects through from start to completion; and to evolve features and products over time.

MISSION

The Information Architect is responsible for developing useful features, with usable interfaces, that help people lose weight.

In collaboration with design, copy, build, business, and marketing teams, the IA creates the user experience of WeightWatchers.com and Weight Watchers mobile applications. The IA’s unique role is to inform project strategy, develop concepts, and define interactions and information architecture.

OUTCOMES

1. Deliver research and analysis that supports development of project strategy, concept, and design.

* Research, analyze, and present best practices, competitive landscape, and Weight Watchers current state
* Plan and conduct user research using various research techniques such as prototype testing, concept testing, task analyses, and card sorting. Analyze and present findings.

2. Contribute to overall strategic direction and vision of projects.

3. Develop concepts for features, based on user needs and business objectives.

4. In collaboration with others, gather and define project requirements.

5. Estimate and plan IA work for projects.

6. Define and document successful, usable user interfaces that meet business objectives, user goals, technical capabilities, and project scope, within project deadlines.

* Create experiences that excel in both the big picture and in the fine details.
* Create a unified user experience across multiple customer touchpoints (e.g., web, mobile), drawing together data, content, and functionality from numerous internal systems such as content management systems, food databases, etc.
* Produce user flows, wireframes, user personas, user scenarios and ad hoc presentations and documentation as needed.
* Lead IA deliverables reviews that generate feedback that improves the final user experience and that result in consensus on solutions.
* Provide meaningful, respectful feedback to teammates.
* Participate in the QA process to ensure final execution meets all IA requirements.

SOFTWARE KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

* Fluent in Visio, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), and Adobe Acrobat
* High-level understanding of web technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, DHTML and JavaScript, .NET, Flash, XML)

EXPERIENCE

Candidates should have 3-5 years experience architecting and developing web and mobile user interfaces, creating personas, scenarios, user flows, and wireframes. They must have in-depth experience in at least one of the following areas: content strategy, Rich Internet Applications, mobile. Candidate should have a demonstrated ability to juggle multiple projects at once. Candidates must have experience working in tight collaboration with others in design, project management, client/business-stakeholder, copy, and engineering roles to develop and design strong solutions.
