INTERN: (unpaid)/NYC Parks Dept. Web and Mobile Project for Special Needs Children and Their Caregivers

Opportunity for a student to work with NYC Parks Dept. on a website on “What & Where” destinations mapping of public facilities and activities for children with disabilities — initially for the web, and further down the road for mobile platforms.  (We already have a 5 boro map on our site with geo tagging but we want to do more.)

We hope to be introducing new hyperlinks on NYC Park’s home page to better serve the needs of the parents and caregivers of disabled children — a “What & Where ” guide so New Yorkers can find playgrounds with universal design facilities in each boro.

The information would describe which site has special features (i.e., wheelchair access, for children with autism, low visual and other disabilities).  The guide will allow us to better serve an important population.

We cannot provide compensation initially — project is ongoing — student can work remotely.

Thank you!  We look forward to hearing from you.
