We’ve had poor response to our job for a systems developer III (which is a fairly high level programmer type position). Working primarily in MSSQL and .Net (those are our primary needs).

The Vermont Agency of Natural Resources – Information Technology Division is looking for a Systems Developer III who is an upbeat, hard working, energetic person. This position is responsible for the design, development, and testing of desktop and web solutions for both internal and external stake holders. Candidate will work in a project environment with stake holders in creating detailed program and functional specifications. Contribute to and assist in establishing development standards and appropriate systems documentation. Will work within the Information Technology Division, obtaining resources and working in support of objectives and strategies.

General Job Description

Professional programming, data base administration, and systems analysis work for a department or agency of Vermont State Government.  Analysis of user requirements, procedures, and problems associated with automating of processing, data analysis, and reporting or to improve existing computer system is required.  Class incumbents are technical experts in their field.  Supervision of subordinate System Developers may be required.  Work is performed under the general supervision of an administrative or professional supervisor.

* Do you have more than 2 years experience with Visual Studio building web application? If yes, please describe.

*Do you have more than 2 years experience writing SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions? If yes, please describe.

* Do you have experience building or supporting Access databases and user interfaces? If yes, please describe.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Considerable knowledge of appropriate generation computer programming languages and techniques.

Strong analytical skills, particularly as involved work units, sequence of operations, and necessary outcomes.

Ability to prepare system designs, work flow plans, report format and input output documents adequate to meet user needs.

Ability to perform software and data base design and to construct specifications for programmers and data base administrators.

Ability to convert user specifications into a successful data processing application.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Ability to evaluate system performance.

Ability to evaluate and estimate system development costs.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Ability to work under pressure from deadlines.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science AND two years experience in programming, data base administration or systems analysis; OR

Associate’s degree in computer science or college-level coursework that includes 15 computer science credits AND four years experience in programming, data base administration, or systems analysis; OR

Six years experience in programming, data base administration, or systems analysis.
