[job] Freelance UX/IA – New York

A private label strategy/UX consultancy that serves top digital agencies is looking for a smart, talented and experienced UX/IA professional based in NYC to handle projects on an hourly or fixed fee freelance/contract basis. This person would be expected to work onsite as needed (meetings, work sessions) but has the flexibility to work offsite otherwise. We’re also open to prospects outside of NY to support project teams based on the West Coast. We have a wide range of high-profile clients and projects, including Pharma, Footwear, Spirits, Finance and more.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

– Produce clean, concise site maps, user flows, process flow diagrams, interface schematics/wireframes, personas, content matrices, requirements documentation and taxonomies.

– Help clarify the vision for a digital experience (web, mobile, social) by creating conceptual models that represent the strategic direction(s) for the user interface design.

– Understand business goals, user goals, analytics, primary research results and technical environments/limitations in order to define the content, architecture and functionality of websites and interactive products.

– Run meetings with clients and internal development staff to define/clarify requirements.

– Present various stages of the interface design development clearly and concisely to clients.

– Visualize concepts quickly and cleanly through wireframing and other rapid prototyping methods.

– Work collaboratively with Strategy, Creative and Technology team members in developing interface functionality

– Apply knowledge in human factors, cognitive psychology, ethnography, anthropology, and the user-centered design process to user experience and definition process.

– Be familiar with phasing strategies and is able to plan information architecture and requirements documentation to be scalable.

– Be familiar with globalization/localization strategies and requirements to create effective global environments.

– Work directly with clients to deliver outstanding interactive solutions.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

– Experience creating traditional Information Architecture artifacts such as wireframes, sitemaps, flows, personas, conceptual models and content matrices, as well as proficiency in the tools used to create them (OmniGraffle, Visio or InDesign).

– 2+ years digital/interactive marketing agency experience.

– Professional experience in digital strategy, design or technology is a plus.
