Position Summary ITS at New York University has two current openings
for IT Specialists to join the Academic Technology Systems team. The
selected technical staff will join a team of 7 highly motivated
education technology specialists building the teaching and learning
systems of tomorrow. We have room for individuals ready to take on
technical responsibility for systems including Google Apps for
Education, Atlassian Confluence, Kaltura video streaming, Xythos File
Storage and Sharing, Blackboard and the Solaris system support for our
Computer Science undergraduate classes. Our team is tasked with
crafting the suite of tools and services which permits faculty and
students to share, learn and do things not previously possible. We are
currently undertaking an exploratory project to replace our file
storage and sharing solutions with a unified set of systems which will
change how students engage with their faculty on data analysis and
education. Our team is dedicated to developing and deploying the Sakai
Open Source learning management system, moving NYU off of Blackboard
and on to Sakai in the near future. We run a Citrix/VMWare Virtual
Computing Laboratory permitting students to do their stats and
illustrator homework from any location, any time of the day.The selected candidates will have interest and expertise in a subset
of the technologies for which Academic Technology Systems team is
responsible. Specific duties include assessing and prioritizing
technical options, championing proven software development lifecycle
practices, and developing and implementing customizations and
integrations in a large scale, complex environment. Performance
optimization and uptime are also a significant responsibility of this
role. In addition to the specific requirements listed here, we will
consider candidates with very strong UI/UX and front end coding
skills, as well as performance engineers and virtualization
specialists.Information Technology Services (ITS) is NYU’s central organization
for technology-based services for University faculty, students, staff,
and administrators. ITS provides computer, network, telephony and
Internet services to the entire University. ITS comprises the Office
of the Chief Information Technology Officer and several service
departments working together in support of the broad spectrum of
University activities.
