UX Designer for Fashion/Entertain Site – NYC – Freelance & Full Time

Here’s your chance to strut your UX stuff on the fashion e-catwalk!

Our client is an international fashion, style and beauty website you’ve definitely heard of… in fact, over a billion people have viewed it since their launch in 2005. The website itself is ranked in the top 200 on the Inc. 500 list of “America’s Fastest Growing Private Companies”. They have over 500,000 subscribers, but the website is mostly monetized through advertising. If your passion lies in UX and fashion, then this is the place for you.

We are looking for a Sr. UX Designer who loves to solve interesting problems, create meaningful interactions, and design the slickest products. If you think you might be the one, we are eager to meet you.

 

Day to days:

  • Helping to define the user interface and visual design for new and existing products and features.
  • Being the “keeper of consistency,” across all site products
  • Building, maintaining and improving the experience of the entire suite of site products
  • Translating business objectives and end-user needs into design strategies
  • Working collaboratively with project teams under the supervision of the Director of User Experience
  • Participating in brainstorming sessions and concept sketching [We love working on paper.]

Must haves:

  • 3-5+ years’ of post college experience in building large scale websites for commerce products
  • Heavy media content experience a must
  • Fashion, beauty or entertainment industry experience a big plus
  • We’d love to see talent from companies such as Conde Nast, Martha Stewart Living, Elle Digital, The NY Times, Huffington Post, iVillage, Vogue.com, Style.com, Fashion.com, etc.
  • Have prior experience in being an IA advocate
  • Be a master at Visual Design, love Typography
  • Have an insatiable passion for new ways to design an interaction
  • Have expert knowledge of Adobe suite products and Wireframing/Prototyping tools
  • Be an advocate of Lean UX methods, experience in Persona Research and User Testing
  • Html/CSS experience a plus
  • Ability to produce high fidelity prototypes a plus
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Interaction Design, Industrial Design, Graphic Design or New Media
  • Portfolio with recommended sample wireframes, schematics, presentations, prototypes (visio, omnigraffle or hand-coded prototypes using HTML, CSS, PHP and/or AJAX), use case scenarios, user research, interaction design strategies, site maps, brainstorming sessions and notes, etc. that walk viewer through business challenge/project from start through completion and show us how you think and solve a business challenge/problem from start to finish. Hey, we even like to see walls of post-it notes!
