Superbly positioned in downtown Brooklyn, steps away from the newly planned Media Hub at Brooklyn Navy Yard, and just south of DUMBO (one of NYC’s fastest growing centers of media and technology), the college sees unlimited opportunity to develop public/private collaboration in the context of education.
Undergraduate instruction is offered in a variety of disciplines, including live performance technologies, emerging media technologies, media computation, video production, scenery construction, lighting, sound, show control, video systems, music technology, interactive entertainment, and management. Program graduates are generalists, well prepared for careers in all genres of media, entertainment, and related industries. Students start with a unified set of foundation courses that introduce them to required skills, knowledge and processes. They then elect to specialize in media design, computation, or fabrication. The core of the program is based around hands-on interdisciplinary team projects that allow students the ability to work on real world productions under the guidance and mentoring of faculty and industry professionals. In addition to their academic studies, they are expected to enhance their educational experience with outside activities, including internships and freelance work in NYC, the entertainment and media capital of the world. Based on our effective education in many disciplines, our graduates are employed throughout the country.
The facilities include state-of-the-art laboratories, a dedicated two-hundred seat theatre, a video production studio, and a variety of smaller spaces. Equipment inventory worth over 2.5 million dollars allows students to gain experience with many different components and systems.
