Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Digital Media Production

Queens University of Charlotte invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Communication specializing in Digital Media Production. This is a full-time, nine month tenure track position beginning August 2013 reporting to the Dean of the Knight School of Communication.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Ideal candidates will cross media platforms and demonstrate knowledge of, research/creative interest, and teaching proficiency in digital video production, interactive media, serious game design, and mobile application development. The School’s emerging undergraduate degree in
Journalism and Digital Media includes courses in journalism, digital media production, media studies and criticism, and studies and practices in multimedia, with a focus on community engagement. We are looking for applicants engaged with cross-platform storytelling and information flow, and committed to using digital technologies to civically engaged ends.

Applicants must possess a high degree of technical competency to participate in partnerships with science, art, journalism and media industries. MFA or PHD required. Preference will go to candidates with an active exhibition history and significant practical experience in an active production environment. Candidates with the MS only will be considered for a non-tenure track appointment. Prior undergraduate-level teaching experience and a commitment to teaching excellence are required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include:
• Teaching undergraduate classes in digital media production
• Research/creative work is required for tenure
• Service to the school, university and community
