This is an exciting opportunity to join the Design team on the Product Development and Management team in Enterprise Growth (EGG), one of the fastest growing businesses at American Express. The team is seeking a Front-End Web Developer to build best in class user experiences for new digital products. These digital payments products will be competing directly with the likes of PayPal, Google Wallet, GoBank and more.
The Front-End Developer will be responsible for building experiences that solve real user needs for new and existing products in the U.S. and abroad, and helping to develop capabilities to accelerate American Express’s leadership in the digital payments and banking alternative space. A successful candidate has a strong coding background along with a practical understanding of user-centric design process. Our team will rely on the developer to support and drive the work of our designers. A strong understanding of software technologies in both web and mobile is invaluable to this role, and experience within digital payments is a plus.
Primary Responsibilities
• Develop organized, semantically correct front-end code (HTML/CSS/JS) for production, prototyping and demos
• Work with design, product and development teams to define technical requirements
• Bridge the gap between design and technology, working with visual and interaction designers to implement, maintain and improve user interfaces
Qualifications
• 3+ years of front-end development experience
• Strong HTML, CSS and JS knowledge
• Experience with agile development methodology
• Good understanding of cross browser (web and mobile) compatibility and web accessibility standards/best practices
• Experience with responsive design is a plus
• Exceptional interpersonal, collaborative and creative problem solving skills
• Passion for the latest trends in front-end development and technology

Primary responsibilities:
- Develop strategic vision for the Mobile Product team
- Identify new product concepts to explore
