DESCRIPTION
The Grey Art Gallery, NYU’s fine arts museum, seeks NYU graduate student candidates for a paid internship in social media for fall 2013. Interns will work with Grey staff on planning and carrying out social media projects. They will be exposed to issues in contemporary and earlier art, and will help foster the gallery’s engagement with NYU students and others. $15/per hour.
Responsibilities:
• Create tweets, Facebook updates, and blogposts about the Grey’s exhibitions, public programs, and collection
• Survey the Grey’s use of social media tools, assess their usefulness, and recommend an integrated approach with room for future growth
• Research, create, and implement compelling, engaging new social media projects
• Monitor social media for Grey mentions and relevant news
• Compile dynamic lists of social media influencers
• Compile digital engagement reports as needed
ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION

QUALIFICATION
• Previous professional experience in social media (especially in a museum setting) preferred
• Prior research in/knowledge of digital and social media technologies
• Strong competence in online media, including a personal presence on platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and blog
• Self-motivated and highly organized
• Experience in creative writing, photography, video production, and web design preferred
• Efficient, well-organized, and responsible
• Responsive to direction and also able to work independently
• Flexible and willing to participate in other aspects of museum and office work as needed
• Able to work 7 hours per week, preferably Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and/or Thursdays
