The Santa Fe International New Media Festival

CURRENTS 2014, the 5th Annual Santa Fe International New Media Festival will be held in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA – June 13th – June 29, 2014. CURRENTS’ curators look for the unique ways artists are using technology as tools of expression and communication, and for ways that scientists, programmers and developers are integrating the arts and aesthetics into their explorations and projects.
The Festival will be held in several venues throughout Santa Fe – El Museo Cultural de Santa Fe, Center for Contemporary Art, Digital Dome Facility at the Institute of American Indian Arts, Zane Bennett Contemporary Art, David Richard Gallery, the Railyard Plaza, Santa Fe Art Institute, Axle Contemporary, Warehouse 21 and the Tower Gallery on Pojoaque Pueblo.
In addition to exhibitions CURRENTS 2014 offers panel discussions, workshops, and evenings of multimedia performances. Festival events are Free to the public.

Guidelines
All applicants must submit the online submission form !
We prefer to view work samples online (personal website, YouTube, Vimeo etc).

Image requirements:
video still captures should be full file resolution .jpg
photos and other images – minimum size 300 dpi, 5″x 8″ ( the larger the better ), .jpg
Submission Fee schedule is as follows:
One Submission = $20 USD
Two or More Submissions in one or multiple categories = $15 USD for each submission
Submission is FREE for those 18 years old or younger. Enter 0 in the Submission Fee Amount box.
Category A – New Media Installations (video, sound, interactive, computer/software modulated or robotic sculpture or computer/software assisted fabrications)

Installation artists are eligible for travel, lodging and shipping assistance.
Installation artists may also apply to be considered for the Santa Fe Art Institute Residency Award.
Submissions must include:
– a website or URL where work can be seen
– a completed submission form
– 2-3 still images of submission or previous installation (per submission)
– an installation floor plan (floor plan is required for consideration)
– a written installation design description (description is required for consideration)
– an equipment list (indicating which equipment you will need the festival to supply)
– brief bio/bios
– a one paragraph statement that addresses the work submitted (100 words max)
– a CV/resume
Category B – Single Channel Video and Animation
Submissions must be 6 minutes or less in length.
Submissions must include:
– a website or URL where work can be seen
– a completed submission form
– 2-3 still images (per submission)
– brief bio/bios
– a one paragraph statement that addresses the work submitted (100 words max)
– a CV/resume
Category C – Multimedia Performance
Performance artists are eligible for travel, lodging and shipping assistance.
Submissions must include:
– a website or URL where work can be seen
– a completed submission form
– 2-3 still performance images (per submission)
– ideal space requirements (minimum and max specifications required for consideration)
– an equipment list (indicating which equipment you will need the festival to supply)
– a brief bio/bios
– a one paragraph statement that addresses the work submitted (100 words max)
– a CV/resume
Category D – Experimental or Interactive Documentary
We are looking for documentaries which are considered by their creators as art works that use video as a medium in
all its variety. The work can be of personal, social or impressionistic nature.
Special quidelines for this category are:
No more than two submissions – short pieces 1-20 mins – feature pieces 45-90 mins
Submissions must include:
– a website or URL where work can be seen
– a completed submission form
– 2-3 still images (per submission)
– brief bio/bios
– a one paragraph statement that addresses the work submitted (100 words max)
– a CV/resume
Category E – Digital Dome Projection

Category F – Web-Art, Art-Gaming, Mobile Device Apps (phone, iPad,etc)
We are looking for artists who are developing applications or websites as an art form, not as portfolio or commercial
promotion. Websites may be interactive but do not have to be.
Submissions must include:
– website or URL where work can be seen
– a completed submission form
– 2-3 still images (per submission)
– brief bio/bios
– a one paragraph statement that addresses the work submitted (100 words max)
– a CV/resume
Category G – Youth New Media Makers
If you are 18 or younger you may submit work in any category Free of charge.
Submissions must include:
– website or URL where work can be seen
– a completed submission form
– 2-3 still images (per submission)
– brief bio/bios
– a one paragraph statement that addresses the work submitted (100 words max)
– a CV/resume
Artists are welcome to submit work in multiple categories.
Submission Fee schedule is as follows:

You may submit more than one entry on each category form. You are also welcome to submit work in multiple categories. Do not select the “Buy Now” PayPal button until after you have submitted the form.
– Once you have submitted the form online a confirmation window will appear. You can now select the “Buy Now” PayPal button to pay your total submission fee in this category. The submission fee for each category must be paid separately.
