[GIG] Visual Artist or UX Designer, Human Rights Tech Org

A human rights technology organization is looking for a visual artist or UX designer to contribute to the software UX redesign of a mobile and desktop application. We need someone with a good eye to create some icons and button styles, and develop a color scheme that will be intuitive and have a modern fresh feel. The high-level user interactions have already been defined, but input/design on the user interactions is welcomed. For this initial contract, we are limiting the scope to meet a particular timeline and find the right fit. But we are looking for someone that is interested in ongoing freelance work, as the system is undergoing a complete overhaul. Candidates in Palo Alto, California or New York, New York are ideal, but we are open to remote collaboration if you are the right fit.

Additional skills desired: data visualization, understanding of data privacy and strong crypto, and prototyping skills in two or more the following technologies: CSS, HTML5, Javascript, FXML, PHP, Python

This is for a non-profit group, so the pay is non-profit rates. But, this would be an opportunity to work on a project helping human rights defenders and activists around the globe, and is a creative opportunity for a student looking to add UX work to their portfolio.
