About Sirono:

Let’s face it – hospital software is terrible. Most of the code was built in the 70’s – pre-dating relational databases, Atari, and… MC Hammer… But it doesn’t have to be terrible anymore. Sirono is making Healthcare IT sexy by replacing antiquated systems in hospitals with modern, well-designed, well-crafted, beautiful software. We’re armed with deep healthcare and software industry experience, well funded, with strategic investors, and large Alpha hospital customers.

Our small team is located in the South Park neighborhood of San Francisco. Our team of 12 represents diverse, highly skilled individuals all motivated by a shared passion for changing healthcare. Our objective is to create smarter software products characterized by user-centered design and focused on increasing transparency. In the end, our work will greatly reduce the costs of healthcare for everyone. That’s a mission you can get excited about being a part of.

The Role:

We’re hiring a UX/UI designer who wants to dedicate their energy and craft to improving the lives and experience of patients and health care providers. We’re working to bring transparency, compassion, and tailored experiences to hospital systems by targeting the design of our site toward different patient demographic groups. We know that health care is an incredibly complex product space in need of help, and we want to do this the right way by integrating UX design and research tightly into our process.

In this role, you will:

  • Own the design for the patient-facing part of our product to take us from our current MVP to the next level.
  • Collaborate with developers and our current team of 2 other designers to solve complex UI and user workflow challenges.
  • Analyze usage patterns and use this data to drive future product direction.
  • Conduct user research activities on-site with our pilot hospital system in North Carolina.
  • Work daily with our San Francisco-based team of designers, business analysts, and developers to build a product that will revolutionize hospital systems!

Here are some of the challenges we’re working on that we’ll want your help solving! Your first challenge will be to focus on helping us totally re-imagine how patients view and understand their hospital bills. You will be:

  • Helping patients with expensive bills to focus on their health, and not finances.
  • Helping get patients access to financial assistance that they may not know is available.
  • Smoothing out the process to avoid the problem of unexpected costs, like when you pay one bill and think and you’re done, and then you get another bill. And another.
  • Keeping patients informed without sending them another “not a bill”.
  • Finding a way to make everybody the “good guy” — including insurance companies, doctors, and patients.

Our Ideal Candidate Has:

  • 4-8 years of UX/UI design experience.
  • Experience designing a web based product and working on web applications.
  • A strong portfolio or samples that demonstrate the creation of complex UX designs.

Bonus points for experience:

  • Working on an MVP before – you’re comfortable with minimal features and iteration of a product.
  • Working on a team with other designers.
  • Dealing with complex data and boiling it down to a simpler UI.
  • With user testing and driving product iteration via analytics, a/b testing, etc. Even better if you have experience getting into the “why” behind the numbers, too.
  • Integrating UI/UX design with an agile development process.
  • Building across desktop, mobile and tablet.

Please note:

This is a full time role onsite at our office in San Francisco.
