Design Technologist

Seed is seeking a Design Technologist to join its Design & Engineering team in New York. As a member of Seed Scientific’s design team, you will be joining an interdisciplinary group of scientists, mathematicians, designers, and engineers that work with commercial, public and social sector clients to help them solve their most challenging problems and get the most out of their data.
You will apply your creativity and technical skills to design, build and deploy custom, datadriven tools that help solve complex humanscale problems. Recent work has included developing relational algorithms that are performant in a browser, visualizing large amounts of data to surface new insights, designing stateoftheart network visualizations, enabling realtime analysis of complex phenomena, and the Visualizing.org community
platform. You will have the opportunity to contribute and have an impact at all stages of a project, from concept to code.
We are looking for talented and passionate design technologists who love hard challenges and want to apply – at least a portion of – their expertise to making a difference on social and humanitarian issues. At Seed you will join a group of peers dedicated to testing the limits of how data can improve decision making for organizations around the world.
Requirements
You have a degree in Design or Computer Science, or at least four years of applicable experience
You have a solid design and data visualization portfolio
You have a passion for data visualization and are on top of current thinking and trends
You are curious, love learning new technologies and testing new ideas
Experience working in and designing for multiple browsers
Technical skills we look for:
Fluency with Adobe Creative Suite (a must)
HTML5 / CSS3 (a must)

PHP or Python
Working with APIs
