Summer Intern, Education Technology UX (User Experience) Research
Job Description:
Amplify Education is looking for a talented and motivated student or recent graduate to join the Amplify Access team as the 2014 Summer Intern in UX (User Experience) Research. This is a paid role, designed for someone who is passionate about the intersection of education and mobile technology, and interested in learning about how products evolve from ideas and plans to commercial software and hardware. The Intern will be a key member of the product research and development team, participating in key planning meetings, becoming intimately familiar with the Amplify Tablet product, and helping support research and ideation for the product. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn firsthand about mobile product development in the education technology space. The intern will work closely with the Director of Research.
Responsibilities of the Intern:
• Work as a core member and collaborative contributor to one or more cross-functional agile product development teams
• Spend time with teacher and student users gathering feedback on product increments
• Assist our usability research efforts including planning and executing the research protocols as well as summarize findings
• Also assist in scheduling, organizing, and running usability testing sessions
• Recruit new teacher and student users for usability testing.
• Review and summarize education literature
Basic Qualifications of the Intern:
• Pursuing a MA or MS or recent graduate in the design of educational technologies or related discipline
• One year of academic and/or project work with qualitative research methods
• Demonstrated interest in mobile product development in the education technology space
• Proven verbal and written communication skills
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications of the Intern:
• Experience with quantitative research methods is a plus
• Proven organizational skills
• Ability to work independently, as well as strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
