[TEACHING / JOB] Game Design Instructor, Museum of the Moving Image

Museum of the Moving Image seeks a well-spoken, outgoing instructor to teach a week-long game design course as part of the Museum’s Summer Media Camp, The program runs August llth-15th, with some planning to take place in advance, Campers range in age from 9 to 13 years, and will be broken down into smaller groups based on age. Summer Media Camp meets Monday through Friday onsite at the Museum. Instructors are responsible for developing daily lesson plans and activities based upon the Museum’s curriculum. This is a temporary non-exempt position. Summer Media Camp Instructors report to the Deputy Director for Education & Visitor Experience.


  • Collaborate on the curriculum development for all sessions;
  • Develop comprehensive lesson plans for each day of Summer Media Camp, to be approved by the Deputy Director for Education & Visitor Experience:
  • Teach all program sessions with assistance from a Museum Educator:
  • Assist with supervision of teen interns, when relevant;
  • Ensure smooth operation of camp activities (such as lunch and outdoor play time) and safety of up to fifteen campers;
  • Maintain clean and orderly workspace and materials;
  • Prepare and present campers’ work at culminating event.


  • Undergraduate degree in related field. Graduate degree preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Scratch and other web-based game design tools. Comfort working with mobile technologies is a plus.
  • Experience teaching upper elementary school and middle school students.
  • Experience teaching in summer, after school, or other informal learning environments is a plus.
  • Must be available for dates as outlined.
