WORDPRESS DEVELOPER POSITION (STUDENT)
Job Purpose Summary: To assist with back‐end development of a custom social learning platform built on
WordPress.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with programming team to create backend code for a WordPress site and custom application currently
in limited beta rollout
• Develop custom themes
Organization Description: Global Learning Initiative
Required Skills/Knowledge:
• Experience with custom theme development for WordPress
• Experience building WordPress plugins and templates
• Working knowledge of HTML / CSS
• JavaScript knowledge, including JQuery
• Experience with collaborative coding
• Experience with version control (ex. Git, SVN)
• Familiarity with MySQL or other relational database
• Must be a self‐starter and be able to work both collaboratively and independently
• Familiarity working with deadlines
Preferred Skills/Knowledge:
• Some knowledge integrating Google tools preferred
• Experience writing unit testing (ex. PHPUnit), and/or web acceptance testing (ex. Selenium) highly desirable
• Experience building responsive and mobile experiences a plus
• Hands‐on experience with agile development practices desirable
