The Designer Intern will translate client business requirements, user needs, and technical capabilities into applications that are visually exciting, easy to use, and emotionally engaging. He or she will need to clearly communicate these concepts to clients and client service teams. Well qualified candidates will have a background in design with knowledge of web user interface design, front-end development, visual design, and a detailed knowledge of current user experience trends and information architecture.

Exercise 1: You are the designer on a new healthcare app project. The app will be a one-stop resource to schedule appointments, refill prescriptions, manage payments and claims, and monitor personal health and health improvements. Design a dashboard for this app. Please provide a wireframe and a hifi version of your design as well as an explanation for the design decisions you made. Spend no more than 2 hours on this assignment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Translate business case into sketches, wireframes, and hifi designs throughout the lifecycle of the project

• Iterate quickly on designs based on daily feedback

• Act as a thought partner on the project to contribute expertise and build the best user solution

REQUIREMENTS

• Visual UI development

• Received or pursuing a BA/BS degree in Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), HCI, CS, or related field or equivalent practical experience

• Experience with rapid iteration and design tools (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, and onscreen prototyping tools)

• UI development for functionality

• Knowledge of JavaScript frameworks and libraries is a plus (e.g. AngularJS, Ember.js, Backbone.js)

• Understanding information architecture and the model-view-controller (MVC) design paradigm is a plus

• Having mobile experience is a plus

• Familiar with HTML5, CSS3, and Javascript

• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills

• Ability to work both independently and in various team settings

• Ability to work under pressure with a solid sense for setting priorities

• Customer focus and quality mindset

• Ability to manage own learning and contribute to functional knowledge building
